Press release 19.9.2017 – Access to cash keeps getting easier

Nosto cash dispensers for Citycon shopping centres

The Nosto cash dispenser network operator Nokas CMS has concluded a partnership agreement with Citycon covering all Citycon shopping centres in Finland. The deal will last for three years.

“Swift and reliable access to cash is crucial for businesses operating in our shopping centres, as many people are still using cash to pay for purchases. Feedback and comments suggest that both traders and customers regard the ability to make cash withdrawals near to the point of sale as an integral part of the overall service,” says Citycon Leasing Director Jussi Vyyryläinen.

As Head of Sales and Development at Nokas CMS, Risto Lepo wholeheartedly agrees with this view: “Our entire operation focuses on providing cash in an easy and secure way at the point where it is needed. As an independent service provider, we are well placed to ensure the availability of cash throughout Finland without increasing the strain on traders or the risks for their staff. This is particularly important in areas where the cash dispenser network has been reduced.”

Nosto cash dispensers installed at Citycon shopping centres match the costs of other ATM services, with no additional charges to consumers using the dispensers. They also operate with all bank cards, dispensing not only the familiar 20 and 50 euro banknotes, but also 10 euro notes as the customer requires. These machines will be installed across the entire length and breadth of Finland from Helsinki in the south to Rovaniemi in the far north. The first machines will be installed in October at the Iso Omena shopping centre in Espoo, followed by IsoKarhu in Pori and Koskikeskus in Tampere. The aim is to install all of the dispensers by the beginning of June 2018.

This latest partnership is based on new cash withdrawal guidelines issued to banks by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority. These guidelines have allowed new operators to enter the cash dispenser market as of the start of 2017. They require banks to set comprehensive prices for customer cash withdrawals across the entire territory of the European Union. The cost to the customer may not depend on the location or choice of cash dispenser.
